Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for March 30 - April 5, 2014.  

If you plan to become a regular couponer here, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!

Best deals in the March 30 Dollar General ad

  • Save $5 off your $25 purchase on March 31 - April 2 -- text 5OFF to 34898 to snag your mobile coupon!
  • Dawn Dishwashing Liquid -- priced at $1 per bottle.  Buy two and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 3/2 Red Plum insert (expires 3/31) and pay 50 cents per bottle instead.
  • Prego Alfredo Sauce -- priced at $2 per jar, with a free box of Barilla Pasta with purchase.  Use the 75 cents off Prego coupon from the 3/23 Smartsource insert, and pay $1.25 for both.  That works out to about 63 cents per item!
  • Bugles -- 4.1 oz bags priced at $1 each.  Buy two and use the 50 cents off 2 coupon from the 2/9 Smartsource insert, and grab yours for 75 cents apiece.
  • Matchbox Cars -- on sale for 79 cents each.
  • Herbal Essences Hair Care -- on sale for $2.50 per bottle.  Buy two and use the $3 off 2 coupon from the 3/9 Smartsource insert.  Your new price drops to a dollar per bottle.
  • Pop-Tarts -- 8-count boxes on sale for $2 each, plus Buy 2, Get 1 Free.  So buy three boxes for $4, then use this $1 off 3 coupon.  Your price drops to a buck per box!
  • Town Talk Wheat Bread -- priced at $1.25 per loaf.
